Nusa Penida sits in a stretch of open ocean where warm and cold currents collide — and that makes for some of the richest underwater life in all of Southeast Asia. This overnight trip gives you the time to explore it properly, without the rush of a day trip.
Across two days you'll snorkel multiple sites: drift alongside oceanic manta rays at Manta Point, float over vivid coral gardens in Gamat Bay, and swim through the clear blue waters of Crystal Bay and Blue Lagoon. Staying overnight on the island means you can hit the best spots early in the morning, before the day-trippers arrive.
We handle everything — car from your Bali hotel, fast boat, 4WD on the island, snorkeling gear, and a cosy guesthouse right by the water. All you need to bring is sunscreen and a sense of wonder.
Your driver picks you up from your Bali hotel and heads to Sanur harbour. Time for a coffee before boarding the boat.
45 minutes across the strait to Buyuk Harbour. Your island driver and snorkeling boat are waiting on arrival.
The headline act. Oceanic manta rays gather here year-round to feed and be cleaned. Snorkel alongside these gentle giants in open water — an experience that stays with you forever. Best done first, while the sea is calm.
Fresh grilled fish, cold coconut, and a view of the water. Take your time — the afternoon is yours.
One of Nusa Penida's most beautiful beaches, with excellent visibility and a healthy reef just offshore. A great spot for a long, relaxed snorkel. Keep an eye out for reef sharks and sea turtles.
Settle into your beachside guesthouse. Rest, explore the village, watch the sunset, and enjoy dinner at your own pace. The island is wonderfully quiet at night.
Gamat Bay is Nusa Penida's best-kept secret — a sheltered cove with towering cliffs above and extraordinary coral below. Arriving early means calm water and almost no other visitors.
A dramatic sea arch frames the entrance to this natural lagoon. Snorkel the wall and explore the crevices where moray eels, clownfish and nudibranchs hide.
Board the late morning fast boat back to Bali. Your driver meets you at the harbour for the return journey to your hotel.
Back to your Bali accommodation, salty and smiling.
Manta sightings at Manta Point are very consistent year-round, but are never guaranteed — these are wild animals in open ocean. That said, our guides know the best spots and times, and sightings on this route are frequent.
Basic swimming ability is required. You do not need to be an experienced snorkeler — our guides are in the water with you and life vests are always available. The trip is suitable for adults and children 8 years and above.
Nusa Penida's snorkeling is best between April and October (dry season) when visibility is highest. We operate year-round but will advise if sea conditions on a particular day are not suitable.
